How To Take Your Horse's TPR

In this video, RW's Jessica tells us how to take your horse's TPR. Taking temperature, pulse, and respiration are the basics every horse owner should know how to do. These vital signs offer insight to your horse’s physically well-being and can greatly help you, or your vet, when you think your horse might be sick. Having this knowledge is also incredibly useful when conditioning your horse for a special event, as its critical to know how quickly it takes your horse to return to his or her resting TPR.

Temperature: normal range 99-101°F
Pulse: normal range 28-44 beats per minute
Respiration: normal range 10-24 breaths per minute
